Talking about feelings

I have a confession to make. You might find it a strange admission for someone who does this work, but I find it difficult to discuss my emotions and feelings. And I suspect you might feel the same way.

It's not about being too sensitive or afraid to look at what's there. It's simpler than that: finding the words to explain and express them is hard. Your intellect wants to label everything, categorise it, and analyse it into something that makes logical sense. But feelings don't always fit into neat paragraphs.

That's one of the reasons breathwork works as a modality.

Breathing is different. It doesn't ask you for a description. When you work with the breath, you can feel and release emotions without needing to master them or explain them away. There's no requirement to diagnose the underlying issue or solve it like a problem.

It allows you to sit with what's there, exactly as it is.

For a long time, you might think that processing life means talking it through until it's fully understood. But your body holds things that words can't quite reach. By shifting your attention out of your head and into the physical rhythm of the breath, something else becomes possible. The tension shifts. The pressure lets go.

You don't need to find the right words to find a bit of space.

What tends to show up for you when you stop trying to explain how you feel?
